ACT Fire & Rescue has advised the gas leak was caused by construction work being undertaken in the area.

ACT Fire & Rescue are currently on scene at a gas pipeline incident in Yarralumla. MacGillivray Street is closed and the community is advised to avoid the area.

Over the next two days, the ACT Emergency Services Agency will be undertaking a training exercise to test our capabilities and procedures ahead of the bushfire season. There will be a number of test posts to platforms including our ESA website and social media channels.
Please do not be alarmed. These will be clearly marked as training, with no action needed to be taken.
In the event of an actual incident, information will be provided via our official social media pages and the website.

There is a potential for thunderstorms for the ACT this afternoon. Storms will likely bring strong winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to localised flash flooding.
The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) encourages the community to:
- secure or remove loose items that could blow around in strong winds
- move your car undercover as well as avoid parking under trees
